OUR STORY

Wild And Free Florals In The Heart Of The Lake District, Kendal

Est in 2019 by ex teacher Sam and her two very little boys - 'Free Range Floristry' originally a workshop pipe dream - was born due to the demand for her Floral Design.

"I had wanted to create a workshop business that made leaving teaching easier and put my existing skills to better work, but the demand for my florals overwhelmed me and put weddings and editorials at the centre of my plans" Sam Clark Owner

Sam gained her qualifications in Floristry at night school whilst still teaching full time and pregnant with her eldest child. As passionate about motherhood as florals, Sam's small children have become a fixture in various venues around The Lakes and familiar faces to those working in The Wedding Industry.

"My seven year old knows more about flowers and foliage than I did two years into my floristry qualifications. He uses his knowledge to weasel free chocolate muffins from the staff at The Inn on The Lake, sweet talk cake makers and try to steal Brides" Sam

A love of gardening, sustainability and The Countryside - Sam has a respectable background in the cultivation and growth of British seasonal flowers. Originally growing for other local florists, Free Range Floristry still continue to grow a large amount of the florals they use in weddings and publications.

"When I went seeking experience with other Florists, they had wanted to buy my flowers so before I knew it I never got a chance" Sam

Our focus on sustainability and ethical trade has built up close relationships with local British award winning growers and likeminded businesses, ensuring we are able to source the best original source produce.

"We are able to boast having access through these relationships, to florals that have never before been seen - including a Dahlia this year soon to be named and marketed" Sam

We do not use foam, pesticides or toxic fertilisers and run several profit free charity workshops throughout each year for local schools, women's refugees and asylum seekers.

"The thing that I'm always most proud of, is that our profit free workshops sell out within 45 minutes. This year 200 tickets" Sam

When not catering for weddings, editorials and other events, Sam can be found amongst the flowers on the farm, walking in the countryside, playing with her boys or planning for exciting future events.

"But the thing I enjoy most aside from weddings, is living and sleeping in the cutting patches each summer with the boys, feeding hedgehogs, watching tadpoles develop alongside flowers, looking for badgers and fox cubs and teaching the boys all about natures rhythms" Sam

Going from strength to strength as a new business, Free Range Floristry is able to boast a series of accomplishments under their belt including awards and publications specific to wedding florals.

"I just cannot wait to see what each Season brings, watch my little business grow and share the ride with all my lovely couples along the way" Sam
